Most Instagrammable Spots in North Devon

It’s no secret that North Devon is a photographer’s paradise. It’s got plenty to offer, from dramatic seascapes, fairytale woodlands, quirky villages and stunning coastline. If you’re wondering where to start to get that key holiday snap for your social media don’t worry, we’ve pulled together some of the best gems in North Devon’s crown. We guarantee that a snap from one of these locations will have every one of your followers desperate for more!

1. Clovelly

Earning the title of ‘most Instagrammable’ village in the UK last year, there’s no way we could kick off this list without including the beautiful Clovelly. It’s a location we’ve raved about numerous times here on our blog but it really is a must visit whilst you’re here in North Devon. Don’t just take our word for it. Clovelly has been assessed by property website, Bankrate as the UK’s most picturesque and prettiest village in a rural location with the highest total of 134, 353 hashtags on Instagram. This privately owned fishing village boasts a timeless elegance that you’d be hard-pushed to find anywhere else. Whether it’s capturing the village’s floral bloom in spring, deep turquoise waters in summer or the nautical-themed Christmas lights in winter – Clovelly is an aesthetic hot-spot, no matter the season!

2. Broadsands Bay

Easily one of North Devon’s best kept secrets, Broadsands Bay is a secluded cove tucked beneath wooded cliffs between Watermouth and Combe Martin. Voted ‘Britian’s Happiest View’ back in 2018, it’s a hidden gem of a location. Baring a steep descent of around 200 steps, the cove has no lifeguards and no amenities, offering instead, complete seclusion. A pirate haven and constantly referred to as one of the UK’s top wild swimming beaches, be sure to snap one for Instagram and watch those likes roll in!

3. Valley Of The Rocks

Another favourite of ours here at Riverside, The Valley Of The Rocks is a must if you’re after that perfect pic guaranteed to make all your followers jealous. Parallel to the sea and incredibly enchanting, this destination is oh-so-popular with tourists and locals alike. Wrap up warm if you’re heading there at this time of year but we promise it’ll be worth it. As soon as you arrive, you’ll be met with impressively rugged jagged cliffs, breath taking coastal views and even a few feral goats! This fascinating valley is conveniently located on the South West Coast path and provides an easy, yet spectacular walk. You’ll find many a photo spot here, so get that camera ready!

4. Blackchurch Rock

If you’re in search of somewhere ruggedly impressive to spice up your Instagram feed, then look no further than Blackchurch Rock. This extraordinary rock is located on Mouthmill Beach near Hartland and is accessible via a beautiful walk through Brownsham Wood. The monumental arch that is Blackchurch Rock is an iconic location for many photographers.

5. Speke’s Mill Mouth

Whilst near Hartland you must not miss our next natural beauty – Speke’s Mill Mouth. A new one to some of us here at Riverside, it’s actually one of the most popular waterfalls in North Devon. Wildflowers flourish and seabirds swoop over coastal outcrops at this peaceful location. The waterfall itself drops 48 meters to the rocky beach below and provides a visually stunning photo opportunity.

6. Appledore

Last but not least we have the beautiful fishing village of Appledore. Waltz your way through a maze of aesthetically pleasing, pastel-coloured houses and admire the floral displays and lobster pots that speckle the cobbled streets. If you’re after somewhere to absorb North Devon’s laid-back seaside atmosphere then this is the place for you. Don’t forget to take a stroll along the quay, where, as well as panoramic views, you can spot traditional fishing vessels dotted along the shore. The perfect place for that Golden Hour shot.
